The Family Portrait Project : The Family Portrait Project is a program of the Homeless Children's Playtime Project (HCPP) in partnership with photographer Tony Brunswick and supported by a grant from the The Advisory Board Company, River Road Unitarian Church, and Ramsay Merriam Fund. All families deserve the opportunity to have a family picture, and many families who lose their housing are unable to salvage personal belongings; many families living in shelters do not own a photograph of their child. Homelessness is growing so rapidly in the District of Columbia that there are now nearly 7,000 children in families that apply for emergency shelter each year. These are some of the families living in a shelter who share their family portraits with you in hopes public education can help harness the political will necessary to address the affordable housing crisis in our city.
